Icebreaker is a brilliant New Zealand company that makes an incredible range of Merino wool clothing. Icebreaker clothing offers a breathable system of layers which regulates body temperature in all conditions and climates. It is odour-resistant, soft and lightweight, quickdrying and great to wear against the skin or as a mid or outer layer. Basically, it’s awesome, and also very stylish! We think the products in their range provide superior performance and comfort in ANY environment or activity.

Icebreaker have been incredibly generous and have provided a number of clothing items for us to take on our trip, including singlets, lightweight tops, polo shirts, t-shirts and leggings. We’ve created a webpage called Round the World with Icebreaker showcasing some of our adventures over the last few years in Icebreaker clothing.  On our journey south we will be undertaking an Icebreaker challenge – trying to (as far as possible) ONLY wear Icebreaker for the whole nine months of our overland trip. We’ll keep you posted on how we get on! Thanks Icebreaker, you guys rock!

We would like to extend a huge thanks to Stuart and his team at DMS Laser Profiles for expertly fabricating our rear drawer system for Rodders.  Designed by Brett, the drawers are laser-cut and formed from Aluminium, and supplied in a modular kit which is easily assembled and installed. The drawers will fit any Toyota Landcruiser 80 series.

DMS can provide innovative laser cutting services backed up by expertise in a comprehensive range of allied skills, including fabrication, sheet metal work, and welding.

If you would like your truck to look as cool as Rodders and are interested in getting your very own rear drawer system, contact Stuart Page on 01628 777 391 ext 207.

Mark from Lakeland Bushcraft has given us a great discount on the Lifesaver Jerrycan water purification system and a nifty new stainless steel Kelly Kettle. These two items are going to be absolutely invaluable on our trip. As we head south we will be testing this gear in the field, and will post the equipment reviews on our gear review pages.

Lakeland Bushcraft are specialists in bushcraft, camping and outdoor living equipment, and have everything you’ll need for a weekend away, a full scale expedition or even a bushcraft adventure in the wilderness. They also have a great blog where they review gear – hopefully you’ll see our reviews of Lifesaver and the Kelly Kettle on here before too long! A small, family business, combined with super friendly service, and a great online shop, you can’t go wrong!

Phil at Barden supplied us with all the equipment we’ve used to set up an auxiliary power system in Rodders including our inverter, DC – DC charger, batteries and cable / connectors. Phil was a great help when it came to sorting out what we needed and he gave us a great deal on the complete package.

Brightkidz have kindly donated over a hundred hi-vis vests and some hi-vis backpacks to distribute to Re~Cycle projects in Africa to help keep cyclists safe on the roads.  BrightKidz is a social enterprise promoting walking, cycling and road safety initiatives, supplying high visibility clothing and accessories for children and adults. Visit their website www.brightkidz.co.uk or give Alison a call on 01 536 526461.

Brightkidz are supporting Re~Cycle, a UK charity that takes unwanted bikes and ships them to impoverished areas of Africa to improve people’s opportunities to access life basics such as water, work, schooling etc. Road safety has been raised as an issue, so Brightkidz have come to the party with some hi-vis gear, some of which we will take with us to distribute to the cycling projects we’ll be visiting on our trip, and the rest will go in with Re~Cycle’s next bike shipments to Africa.

Thanks Brightkidz!

Grant from All Tax Limited has kindly sponsored two turkeys and a rope! Check out their website www.alltax.co.uk for all your tax needs. Cheers Grant!

Ay Up Lighting Systems have helped us out by providing an additional head torch mount for Brett’s LED mountainbiking night lights. Ay Up are a small Aussie company that make incredibly bright, fantastically small, practically indestructible LED lights. Brett has the V4 kit, in which a pair of lights are attached to his bike helmet, and a second pair to the handlebars providing superb lighting for night riding. The beauty of these lights is you can attach them to an elastic headband to turn them into a  head torch, and they are so small and light, you hardly know they are there. Great for all outdoor activities, you can even use them underwater! These little beauties are the brightest thing this side of the sun, so we will take them when we go climbing and trekking, in case we get benighted. Awesome.
